Many career narrators have made their way in this industry through determination, research, trial and error, huge mistakes, and massive accomplishments.

There is no one way to make it in this industry. There are many paths. But here are some tips if you want to move from narrating for free (or almost free) to a career in narration. Please note, that these tips aren’t a guarantee of success, and I caution you against believing anyone who says if you do A, B, and C, you’ll become a professional narrator. Nothing is a sure thing in this business, and it certainly isn’t ‘easy money’. It’s hard, sustained, tiring work.

Also, these tips are just tips. There’s nothing in here you couldn’t discover on your own, or have maybe already discovered, but this is a bit of a shortcut for those of you who want to make sure you’re on a path that makes sense for you.
