I was nominated for a SOVAS award several years ago, for Outstanding storytelling best performance as the author, and I entered the piece. Made me feel good, but didn't result in any more jobs. It's nice to have on my resume.

I narrated a story and combined it with the illustrations to create a digital film for a children's book author. He entered it in Children's film festivals, and it won an award, and that is paying off. I booked another similar job to that.

Thank you for your clear explanation regarding how awards are tied to making money. This explains why many of the same narrators are nominated over and over, including celebrities.

Happy Happy birthday to you and thank you for this article. I applaud those who are nominated and won an award and it is human nature to feel envious for them as well. I have nominated a few books and it is costly. Sometimes, the frustration I have is that it is always the same people getting nominated...would be nice to see fresh faces and names to be awarded. Really appreciate the explanation of the process and also a realistic POV
