This is so helpful. Thank you! I love this perspective - "If you look at every audition as a chance to train casting on your ability as a narrator, then whether you’re cast or not doesn’t matter. Every audition shows how you can shine."

Thank you for your insights. Tanya! Auditioning is the job, booking it is the bonus. I like bonuses. 🥰

Thanks Tanya! I've been branching off from ACX and working on relationships with publishers, and it's so flattering when they reach out about a potential book for me. I always wonder what makes them reach out to me as opposed to other narrators.

The last part is kinda a mystery. Once a publisher/casting agent learns your voice, they start to 'hear' it. Or that's the way that it works for me. Voices bubble up. Other times, I look at emails to see who's available or scroll through similar genres and do research on narrators.

It's good to know my email reach outs are helpful! It can be discouraging feeling like you're just sending them into "the void."

Oooh interesting, the company masters the audition? So we should be sending it in raw (but clean)? I have always run my mastering chain on my auditions!

We do. We prefer to receive auditions raw, punch & roll. It lets us know your sound and allows us to master files for our clients. Most places prefer raw auditions.

Thank you for sharing the process so clearly & specifically, Tanya! Couldn’t agree more that each audition is a chance to shine! ✨I like to think the audition IS the job & being cast a bonus!
